Chapter 30

The house is in sight again. I go around to the back. My plan will now be put into action. "Trea! I'm back! I'm in the back!" I holler, hoping he'll come out. He does.
"Lyssie! I'm so glad you came! It is lunchtime! everything is ready now," he says. He doesn't suspect a thing.
"What happened, again, when you were freed from the Jabberwalk?"
"Well, you agreed to a deal of helping out the Jabberwalk in exchange for my life. And then he let me go."
"Oh, that's right. I forgot," I say, pulling out the Vorpol Sword. Fear seizes every part of this so-called-Trea.
"W-what are you doing, Lyssie? I thought you loved me!"
"Hmm... about as much as you loved me. I wonder... how is it that my Trea is standing here when he is also lying on the ground, dead, in Tugley Wood?"
   "What are you talking about?"
"You aren't Trea." I narrow my eyes at him. The Vorpol Sword pulses in my hand again, flashing blue and green. "'One... Two... One... Two..." I hang on to the Vorpol Sword. "The Vorpol... Blade... Went snick-er... Snack..." The Jabberwalk's eyes get large with fear, no doubt realizing that there is no escape this time. "He left it dead. Off with its head. He went... gallumphing back..." The sword is ready in swinging position, pulsing unbelievably fast. It... grows... teeth! I had no idea... I keep holding on to the Vopol Sword. It's as though the Sword is... alive! I swing the sword. It bites the Jabberwalk. No blood? I look at the Jabberwalk. He's vaporizing! The Jabberwalk is screaming and writhing, pleading to no avail. The Sword absorbed the vapor of the the Jabberwalk. I drop the sword. It has returned to its former glory, the glory I found it in in the first place. I leave it and walk off.
